1 ✈️ ️Day 1
Arrival in Khartoum late at night. Reception at the airport, transfer to the hotel and overnight. Dinner not included.
1 🛖 Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, there will be a short visit to Khartoum, along the lush avenue alongside the Blue Nile, passing the Presidential Palace. We will then head north in off-road vehicles. The landscape becomes increasingly arid and flat, a desert as far as the eye can see. We plan to stop at the ‘chai houses’, which are a kind of ‘autogrill’ in the desert where local truckers usually stop. At midday, we'll stop for a picnic in a chai-house. We reach the Nile again at Merowe town hall and cross the river on the bridge built to reach Karima. Accommodation at the Nubian House in Karima, dinner and overnight.
2🐫 Day 3
Exploring Jebel Barkal and Nubian Heritage : After breakfast at the hotel, head towards Jebel Barkal, a sacred mountain visible from miles away in the Nubian Desert. Once the religious heart of Nubia for over 1,000 years, it housed the great Temple of Amun and features granite-carved arches and a decorated chamber dedicated to Mut. Nearby, visit the pyramids of the Kushite dynasty, part of the royal necropolis of Napata, which includes sites at El Kurru, Nuri, and north of Jebel Barkal. In El Kurru, explore ancient rock-cut tombs adorned with hieroglyphs and pharaoh depictions. The journey continues through the Nubian Desert to a petrified forest, home to fossilized logs, offering a glimpse into the region's prehistoric past.
