Chronology of the Trip to Lake Habema
1 🛬 Arrival in Jayapura
Welcome at Jayapura airport and connecting flight to Wamena (at your expense). Hotel check-in, visit to Napua Hill, Sinatma village, and the Wesaput suspension bridge.
2 🚙 Lake Habema
Departure by 4x4 jeep to Lake Habema. Presentation of documents to the Indonesian army at Napua. Opportunity for trekking around the lake. Overnight bivouac.
3 🦜 Ornithological Expedition
Observation of rare birds around the lake, such as Beck's Petrel, Victoria Crowned Pigeon, and Birds of Paradise. Possibility to witness courtship displays.
4 🛤️ Return to Wamena
Free morning for further birdwatching, then return by jeep to Wamena (3-hour journey).
5 ✈ End of the Trip
Breakfast and transfer to Jayapura airport for your return flight.
