Travel Itinerary

1✈️ Day 1 – Trabzon – Arrival Day

Welcome to Trabzon. Today is your arrival day.
Transfer available from the airport or bus station.
Transfer to your hotel.
Overnight in Trabzon.

2Day 2 – Trabzon City Tour

(Breakfast and dinner included)
After breakfast, visit the 13th-century Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya) Church and its magnificent Byzantine frescoes.
Then continue to Gulbahar Hatun Mosque, the castle, and Atatürk’s villa (a scenic house on the hill).
Visit Ortahisar Mosque, formerly a Byzantine cathedral.
Lunch by the sea in Akçaabat.
In the afternoon, stroll through the cobbled streets of Trabzon.
Then head to Boztepe for samovar tea with a panoramic view.
Dinner and overnight in Trabzon.

3Day 3 – Sumela Monastery – Zigana – Karaca Cave – Erzurum

(Breakfast and dinner included)
Departure after breakfast to visit Sumela Monastery (4th century), perched on a cliffside in a dense forest.
Stop at Altındere Valley National Park.
Lunch, then drive through the Zigana Mountains (Pontic Alps) to Karaca Cave, famous for its colors and spectacular formations.
Continue toward Erzurum via Bayburt.
Dinner and overnight in Erzurum.

4Day 4 – Erzurum – Kars

Early departure to Kars via Sarıkamış, the coldest place in Turkey.
Upon arrival, visit the medieval city of Ani, located at the Turkish-Armenian border.
Explore the ruins: churches, mosques, and caravanserais surrounded by city walls.
Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Armenian border and discover a site that once rivaled Baghdad!
Dinner and overnight in Kars.

5Day 5 – Doğubeyazıt (Mount Ararat)

After breakfast, 3.5-hour drive along the Silk Road to Doğubeyazıt, near the Iranian border.
Discover an impressive site nicknamed the Crater Hole, and enjoy panoramic views of Mount Ararat, the legendary mountain linked to Noah’s Ark.
Visit Ishak Pasha Palace, a mix of mosque, fortress, and palace featuring a room for every day of the year.
View the remains of the ancient Urartian city of Eski Bayazit (1000 BC).
Dinner and overnight in Doğubeyazıt.

6Day 6 – Doğubeyazıt – Lake Van

(Breakfast and dinner included)
Departure for Van after breakfast (approx. 3 hours drive).
City founded in the 13th century BC by the Hurrians, later occupied by the Hittites, Urartians, Persians, Armenians, Macedonians, Romans, and finally the Turks in the 11th century.
Visit the Armenian Holy Cross Church on Akdamar Island.
Explore Hosap Kurdish Castle near the Iranian border, as well as the Urartian citadel.
Dinner and overnight in Van.

7Day 7 – Van – Ahlat – Bitlis – Diyarbakir

After breakfast, visit the 12th-century Seljuk cemetery in Ahlat, a mystical site.
Then continue to Bitlis (also called Alexander’s City), have lunch, and enjoy a walk through this authentic medieval town.
Dinner and overnight in Diyarbakir.

8Day 8 – Diyarbakir – End of the Tour

End of the tour. Please plan your departure and check out before noon.
