Documents and procedures
In order to travel to Sudan, you must have a valid passport.
All passports must be valid for more than 6 months from the date of return.
No foreigner will be admitted to Sudan if he/she holds a passport with an Israeli visa or stamp.
Visitors and expatriates holding ordinary passports are required, within three days of arrival, to register with the General Directorate of Passports, Foreigners’ Department, regardless of the purpose and duration of their stay. This registration must be done with the police authorities in each city where you are staying. If you forget to register or fail to do so, you will be fined.
Medical
If necessary, consult your doctor or an international vaccination center to evaluate your health, analyze the health risks and receive health recommendations, particularly on necessary or recommended vaccinations.
No vaccinations are mandatory, but some vaccinations are recommended:
yellow fever vaccine,
the diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis (DTP) vaccination update is recommended, including Rubella-Mumps and Measles in children;
Vaccination against tuberculosis is also recommended;
Vaccinations against typhoid fever and viral hepatitis A and B may be recommended;
the vaccine against bacterial meningitis A + C + Y + W135 ;
Make sure you have a personal pharmacy and take the necessary medication with you as needed. It is also highly recommended to take out insurance in France to cover medical expenses and repatriation.
Flights
Flights are not included in the package, so you have 2 choices. Either you take your tickets alone or we take care of them for you in return for an additional fee on the initial price of the package, corresponding to the price of the tickets. You are free to choose your departure airport and your departure date. You will leave on your own and will be taken care of once you arrive at Khartoum International Airport.
Climate
With an average annual temperature of 30 degrees, Khartoum is one of the hottest capitals in the world.
In winter, it is hot: maximum temperatures are around 31 degrees even in January. In spring the temperatures rise rapidly, reaching 40 degrees in April. In April and May the temperature reached 47 degrees.
In July and August, under the influence of the monsoon which brings some rain, the temperature decreases slightly, but remains very high, around 38/39 degrees, then in October and November, at the end of the monsoon, it increases slightly, approaching again the 39/40 degrees. Rainfall is very rare.

The official languages in Sudan are literal Arabic and English.
Electricity
Electricity standards: voltage 230 V frequency 50 Hz
Sockets used: type C and type D
The plugs and the electrical network in Sudan are of the same standard as in Canada. No adapter is necessary if you come from Canada. If you come from another country, you may need a travel adapter (or universal power adapter) to use your electrical appliances in Sudan.
Currency
The currency in Sudan is the Sudanese pound (SDG). 1 Sudanese pound is equal to 0.015$CA.
Recommendations
It is recommended to :
– Make yourself known to the Canadian embassy in Khartoum,
– Do not carry valuables and large sums of money,
– Keep your travel documents in a safe place (e.g. hotel safes) (only carry photocopies),
– Drive with locked doors and closed windows,
– If you are traveling, inform a friend or relative of your itinerary,
– Do not travel at night,
– Avoid all gatherings and demonstrations.
